The Knights of Columbus supports Right to Life.
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, Fraternal, Family Organization that considers life to begin at conception and end in natural death. Five years ago, the Knights of Columbus set up a Culture of Life Fund that is used just as it is described.
On January 22, 2009, on the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Courts decision of Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion on demand, the Knights of Columbus launched a new initiative aimed at providing women considering an abortion a new way of viewing the life within them.
On that day, the K of C Supreme Council matched funds raised by Knights, to provide funding for the acquisition of ultrasound machines in helping pregnancy care centers provide for the health of both mother and child.
At this time, councils throughout the world have qualified for matching funds from the Supreme Council towards the purchase of over 290 ultrasound machines at a cost of over $8.5 million. In Michigan, 23 Ultra Sound Machines have been placed in pregnancy care centers and in the Kalamazoo Diocese, we have just requested permission to place our third machine in Coldwater, being in addition to Ultra Sound Machines placed in Niles and Allegan.
Every year, thousands of Knights and their families join the March for Life in Washington DC. We also sponsor many others whom otherwise could not afford to participate. This is along with underwriting a very large portion of the March for Life event.
Knights and their families join you in participating in the 40 days for life, praying in front of Abortion Clinics and we also sponsor abortion legislation and were very instrumental in the defeat of the legislation several years ago when the ‘Death with Dignity’ Federal legislation was introduced that would have allowed doctors to end a elderly or comatose persons life using drugs.
We stand with you and we pray with you for the sanctity of life from conception until natural death..
